Haumea Ecoversity's ethos for its courses and community is guided by the peoples' Earth Charter

Haumea Ecoversity is committed to holistic, wisdom-based transformational learning as part of global efforts in recent decades to evolve Education for Sustainable Development - ESD. Holistic, inclusive values education is essential for cultural renewal to advance a life-sustaining, just world and an enduring culture of peace. As such, our ethos commits to the 4 Pillars & 16 Principles of the global, citizen-led Earth Charter (2000).

Endorsed by UNESCO (2003, 2019) the Earth Charter is the globally recognised ethical framework to guide all Earth citizens' conscience and actions to ethically achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Founder-Director Cathy Fitzgerald is an accredited ESD-Earth Charter educator, following a 2020 Irish Arts Council Professional Development Award. ESD Earth Charter Educators are at the forefront of understanding integrated values are fundamental to help all develop a sustainability / ecological / systems thinking mindset for the Great Turning, the just transition for enduring personal, collective and planetary wellbeing.

Haumea Ecoversity supports #CultureDeclares

In early 2019, Haumea Ecoversity Founder-Director Cathy Fitzgerald became the first Irish signatory of the international #CultureDeclares Emergency movement.

Haumea Ecoversity is her contribution to the international #CultureDeclares movement.

Cathy and her collaborators embody the #CultureDeclares values in their courses, as well as those of the Stop Ecocide campaign to which Cathy is also a signatory.

#CultureDeclares is about
"co-creating a regenerative culture – one that is inclusive, healthy, life-supporting, resilient and adaptable – requires rebuilding just and ethical relationships between ourselves, and with other species and the land. This takes time."
